But all is not lost!

There's been much speculation about the future of Netlflix after increased competition and a series of subscription price-hikes.
And now, CEO Ted Sarandos has confirmed adverts will indeed feature on the streaming platform in the near future.
Back in March, an increase in the price of subscriptions was announced, which prompted a lot of discussion over whether or not a Netflix account was worth the money:
Oof… price hike for Netflix…
Basic Package: €7.99 to €8.99
Standard Package: €12.99 to €14.99
Premium Package: €17.99 to €20.99

And around the same time, it was reported bosses were looking at a cheaper rate that would contain ads - a move that now appears to have been confirmed.
Speaking to podcast host Kara Swisher, Sarandos said:
“We’ve left a big customer segment off the table, which is people who say: ‘Hey, Netflix is too expensive for me and I don’t mind advertising,'”
“We adding an ad tier; we’re not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today. We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say, ‘Hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads.'”
It's not clear yet just how much that tier will cost once it arrives.
