Movie streaming has become the norm for film-lovers and users that have been 'borrowing' the mates account might be a thing of the past.
It's no secret that Netflix users have been using each others accounts to avoid paying the monthly subscription.
Now Netflix is going to cracking down on people sharing accounts.
The streaming service is rolling out a message to people saying:
"If you don't live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching."
To get past this message, a verification email or text will be sent to the account holder.
You will be able to click a 'verify later' button to keep viewing for a undisclosed time before you have to enter a code.
According to Ladbible, Netflix confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter about their new campaign.
A spokesperson said:
"This test is designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so."
It hasn't been confirmed which countries will be receivingiving the test but THR before the it will be rolled out across the world.
Kids Product Manager at Netflix, Michelle Parsons said in a statement:
"Everyone can now add these new, improved controls to their profile by going to account settings on our mobile or laptop.
"Choice and control have always been important for our members, especially parents. We hope that these additional controls will help parents make the right choices for their families."
