Music to our clumsy ears!

If you've gotten this far in life without cracking your phone screen, then fair play. We'd imagine you're in the minority.

But, we bet you know someone who's a disaster with their phone, and can't go on a night out without doing some damage to their phone.

Well, a scientific breakthrough could significantly reduce the chances of your phone screen cracking.

According to studyfinds.org, an international team has been looking into a new way to make the screen glass.

And it involves finding a better way to make tiny particles called colloids, which are the backbone of many products.

The new material they're working on is thought to be up to 6 times more difficult to break than bulletproof glass.

It could be used for our phone screens, but also car and building windows.

Lead author Dr. Laura Rossi from the Delft University of Technology said it's a "new way" to think about materials design.

They're still at the testing stage, and are feeling positive.

After seeing some results already, Rossi said she's "confident that it can be done.”

Rossi adds, “It would be great to have a physical version of this material and hold it in my hand.”
