It seems there's a gender pay gap when it comes to children's pocket money.

A poll of parents in the UK found boys get an average of 3-pounds a week, while girls receive £2.50.

Meanwhile, boys are more likely to have their pocket money linked to their performance at school, while girls are more likely get pocket money for doing chores.

Starling Bank has launched a its Make Pocket Money Equal campaign.

The campaign has found the way we speak to women about money differs to the way we speak to men,

Nearly two thirds (65%) of financial articles in women’s magazines define women as excessive spenders advising them to limit, restrict and take better control of shopping ‘splurges’.

To combat this, they are encouraged to save small sums, earn small amounts, or to depend on financial support.
