Ah lads!

Not all Irish people know how to cook a roast, according to a new study.

The survey by Safefood found less than 1 in 6 people use a meat thermometer when cooking meat.

Instead, many rely on judging the 'doneness' of meat by it's colour and relying on cooking time.

That's compared to research in the US and Canada, where up to 70 per cent of people use them.

The study also found 55 percent of Irish consumers don't know the correct oven temperature for cooking meat, while around half admitted to overcooking meat to ensure it was safe to eat.

While some respondents, particularly older people and females were resistant to ever using a meat thermometer.
