Thanks for the laughs, Scrat
Ice Age is an animated film series that will be close to the he art of thousands.
Many of us grew up with the saga of a misfit bunch of prehistoric animals as they battle against the odds to save themselves from extinction.
This week it was announced that the studio behind the films, Blue Sky Studios, was being shut down.
And with the end in sight, there was one more item of unfinished business to take care of.
A letter from Blue Sky Co-Founder, Chris Wedge.
With the news of Blue Sky’s closing, we send 34-years worth of gratitude and appreciation to our friends and fans throughout the world. ? pic.twitter.com/uN4h4wVzvz

One of fans' favourite characters, was Scrat, a sabre-toothed squirrel, who spent every film chasing his one true love - his acorn - but never quite getting there.
To give you an idea of just a snippet of what he went through over the 20 year span of Ice Age, Scrat chased the acorn underwater, being attacked by Piranhas, was robbed by a female squirrel, got lost in the ocean and used it as the key of a UFO.
In Blue Sky's final gesture, that all changed:
Scrat finally gets the acorn as a farewell to Blue Sky Studios.
“In the final days of Blue Sky Studios, a small team of artists came together to do one final shot. This shot is a farewell, a send-off on our own terms.” pic.twitter.com/Z9QmNEX4x1
