Will Smith says he accepts a decision to ban him from the Oscars for a decade.
It's after he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage at this year's ceremony.
The actor, who's apologised, won't be allowed at any other Academy event for 10 years.
The board says it's to 'protect the safety' of guests.
However, the actor can still be nomination for Academy awards.
After the incident, Will Smith went on to win best actor for his role in King Richard.
It was the 53 year old actor's first-ever Oscar win.
Will Smith had already resigned his membership from the Academy and said before the disciplinary hearing that he would accept any consequences.
Afterwards, Smith released a public apology and admitted his actions were "shocking" and "inexcusable".
After a meeting of the academy’s 54 governors, the group’s president, David Rubin, and its chief executive, Dawn Hudson, called Mr. Smith’s behavior “unacceptable”, as reported by the New York Times.
They also admitted to not handling the situation properly during the telecast.
“For this, we are sorry,” said the statement.
“This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.”
