Readers of Travel and Leisure magazine have named Ashford Castle in Cong, Mayo, as the best resort hotel across the two islands.

The 5 star boutique hotspot took the number one slot thanks to its "gorgeously manicured lawns and fountains" and "delicious tea service".
Ballyfin in County Laois, Adare Manor in Limerick and Clare's Dromoland Castle also made the top five.
