Both boys deny murdering the schoolgirl in Dublin last May.

A witness has told the Ana Kriegel trial that one of the two boys accused of her murder confided in him about what he claims happened the day she died.

Both boys deny murdering the schoolgirl in Dublin last May, while one of them is further charged with aggravated sexual assault.

Today, one of five child witnesses to give evidence via a video link told the jurors Ana Kriegel told her that she liked Boy A.

A teenage boy said he remembered talking to BOY A and BOY B while Ana was still being treated as a missing person. He said both of them told him they were the last two with her in the park on the day she went missing.

He said BOY A didn't seem himself that day and was “agitated and fidgety” while BOY B was fine. He described him as “calm and collected”.

Another boy said they approached him early in the year about joining a satanic pledge. He said he signed up but said they told him it wasn't serious.

The court heard from another boy who said BOY B confided in him the month after Ana died. He said he told him he saw BOY A getting into a “small scrap” with Ana inside an abandoned house.

He said he told him it got more violent and he got her into a headlock and tried to get her on the ground as she fought back and struggled. He told the jury BOY B told him he freaked out and ran away.
