It's a good week for positive energy.

The new solar energy farm has opened near Kinsale, Co. Cork.

It's the biggest solar energy farm in the country.

But what exactly does that mean??

Well, it's reported to have enough electricity power to supply all the houses in Kinsale.

In other words, it can provide power to more than 1,000 houses.

It's estimated to be worth €5 million and rests on a 16-acre site at Dunderrow.

And it'll produce up to 5.6 megawatts of electricity for US pharmaceutical manufacturer, Lilly.

That's one of the longest-established pharmaceutical manufacturers in Ireland.

The company employs around 2,000 people here and it's continuing to grow!

The new site is expected to reduce the company's carbon footprint by 2,350 tonnes per year.
