Met Éireann issues weather warnings for seven counties

It's going to be a wild weekend in the west.

Met Éireann is warning of heavy rainfall today along with very windy conditions in parts of the country.

The national forecaster has placed all of Connacht and Donegal on a status yellow rainfall warning valid from 3pm this afternoon until 3pm Saturday.

While Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Kerry have received wind warnings for winds of 50 to 65 km/hr gusts 90 to 110 km/hr, strongest on exposed coasts and hills.

There'll also be a risk of coastal flooding.

The warning comes into effect at 3pm on Friday (today) until 11am on Saturday.

There's also a Status Yellow Gale Warning in force for Irish waters, Met Éireann's statement reads: "South to Southwest gales developing on the Northwest coast by midday will extend to remaining sea areas and to the Irish Sea in the afternoon and evening, with winds increasing to strong gale force at times on coasts from Valentia to Slyne Head to Malin Head."

Basically it's going to a wild weekend.
