From Penneys to the Masseys, a wide orange of awesome inventions have come from Irish minds over the years, and these are just a few.

The original Primark/Penneys opened its doors to the public for the very first time in Dublin in 1969.

This will come as no surprise to most Massey enthusiasts that an Irish man by the name of Harry Ferguson invented the tractor’s original Ferguson System in 1926. i.e THE MASSEY.

In this digital age where would any of us be without our selfies and filtered selfies.

We have an Irish man by the name of John Joly who invented colour photography to thank.

John Joly discovered a successful means of producing colour photos from one plate all the way back in 1894.

Given our massive Irish diaspora, we've all been able to keep in touch with our loved ones abroad thanks to an Irish man called Lord Kelvin Thompson who invented transatlantic calls.

He ran the cable  from Newfoundland in Canada to Valentia in County Kerry.

Professor Frank Pantridge invented the Automated external defibrillator (AED) or portable emergency defibrillator In 1965.

The life-saving device automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation (VF) and pulseless ventricular tachycardia.

Irish inventors also contributed to the tank, the submarine the rasher and the modern flavored crisps.
