How many of you slept well last night after the long weekend knowing you had to get up for work this morning?

For most of us the annoying Sunday night insomnia probably sneakily transferred itself onto the Bank Holiday Monday night.

So if you're feeling a little tired and emotional today it might have more to do with a lack of sleep and less to do with overdoing it at the weekend.

If you got less than six hours sleep you might be feeling as bad as if you got no sleep at all.

While if you regularly sleep less than six hours it could cause the same damage as alcohol abuse.

And continuous sleep deprivation can lead to an increased risk of obesity, depression, heart attacks and strokes.

Subjects in a lab-based sleep study who were allowed to get only six hours of sleep a night for two weeks straight functioned as poorly as those who were forced to stay awake for two days straight.
