What colour are tennis balls? A simple question, right? But it seems there's no simple answer.

Just like "The dress" that divided the internet back in 2015, the tennis ball is equally polarising.

The heated debate started last month with a Twitter poll. 52% said tennis balls are green, 42% said they're yellow, while 6% said "other".

Then the world’s number one ranking men’s tennis player, Roger Federer, weighed into the debate.

The 36 year old, who has 20 Grand Slam titles to his name, said tennis balls are yellow.

Has Roger settled things once and for all? Not so, it seems.

But there is an interesting theory that whatever colours you saw "The dress" as is connected to the colour you think a tennis ball is.

If you're wondering why there's such a split in human's perception of colour, it's reportedly down to the way we perceive light.

We still think the tennis ball question is going to cause a bit of a racket though!
