It's also a major red flag for some if you don't like their pet!

Everyone has their dating preferences - you likely would prefer someone living relatively near to you, and someone with their life somewhat together.

But does your pet, or theirs, come into your mind when you think of dating?

If not, well then maybe you'll need to change that thinking.

A survey was carried out in the US which found that people with pets really do prioritise their furry friend.

More than 7/10 pet parents said they see red flags if a potential partner doesn’t treat their own pets like family.

Almost half of those surveyed have said their pet has been a great “wingman”, helping them grab attention.

While around 65% of people said they're more likely to swipe right on someone with pet photos in their dating app profile.

The survey of 2,000 cat and dog owners learned that three in five think leaving a pet in a crate all day is a major no-no.

That's followed by 52% who’ll raise an eyebrow at pets not being allowed on furniture, according to SWNS Digital.

The poll wasconducted by OnePoll on behalf of ORIJEN pet food.

It also revealed that 73% of people believe they’re more likely to approach someone walking a dog - whether they're single or attached.
