A man has died after a serious assault in Longford.
Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the serious assault that occurred in the town of Lanesboro.
A man in his 20s allegedly assaulted two men, aged in their seventies and eighties, and a woman in her fifties. All received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
The man in his20s was taken to University Hospital Galway and has since passed away.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out later.
