Garda assaulted at Garth Brooks concert

A man arrested at Saturday's sell-out Garth Brooks gig in Croke Park, has been accused of assaulting a guard during the concert.

The officer, who is based in Mountjoy district that is responsible for policing in the area, suffered a broken nose in the incident.

27 year old Gary Doyle was arrested by Garda Sergeant Elaine Murtagh at 10.05 pm on Saturday at the stadium in Dublin, and brought to Store Street Garda station in the city centre.

He appeared before judge Bryan Smyth at Dublin district court this morning and was charged with assault causing harm to the officer on the 1oth of September.

The accused, from County Down denies the allegations, and in reply to charge of caution he said "i didn't do it"

The court heard he was sober, and the designated driver for a group who traveled from county Down to attend the concert.

He was refused station bail and conveyed in garda custody to the court on Monday, however, Judge Smyth noted that he did not have a bench warrant history and granted court bail.

Mr Doyle was released on €1,000 bail on the condition he gave gardaí his mobile phone number, remained contactable at all times, and notified them of any address change.

He ordered him to appear on 10th October for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directions and warned him to attend court on all future dates in person.
