Parents say they'd rather their children opted for a practical job.

For years, it seems office jobs seem to have ruled the roost.

Typically seen as more reliable and better paid, it seems that bubble may be starting to burst.

With workers at two major social media companies faced with mass lay-offs recently, it seems people have been reconsidering the best career paths.

But for parents, the reasons are purely selfish!

A new study shows 4 in 10 parents say they'd be happier if their children chose a trade rather than an office job - so they've always got someone to help around the house.

The Irish Daily Star, reports 51 per cent say they themselves regret not pursuing a more practical career.

While 56 per cent say they wish their career choice could have made more of a difference in people's lives.
