You can expect to cough up a little more coin from now on
Today, February 1st marks a new ‘maximum fares order’ for Taxi users in Ireland.
After meeting in September, the National Transport Authority (NTA) proposed an increase in the maximum taxi fare by an average of 3.22%.
While it's not a massive increase, regular taxi users will certainly notice the difference.
Here's a comparison of the old prices with the new:
Existing Maximum Fare (before 1 February 2018)
Initial Charge: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €3.60
Initial Charge: Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €4
Tariff A – Up to 15kms: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €1.10 per km, €0.39 per minute
Tariff A – Up to 15kms: (Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €1.40 per km €0.49 per minute
Tariff B – Over 15kms: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €1.45 per km, €0.51 per minute
Tariff B – Up to 15kms: (Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €1.75 per km €0.62 per minute
New Maximum Fare (as of 1 February 2018)
Initial Charge: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €3.80
Initial Charge: Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €4.20
Tariff A – Up to 15kms: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €1.14 per km, €0.40 per minute
Tariff A – Up to 15kms: (Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €1.45 per km €0.51 per minute
Tariff B – Over 15kms: (Standard, 8am – 8pm): €1.50 per km, €0.53 per minute
Tariff B – Up to 15kms: (Premium, 8pm – 8am, Sundays and Bank Holidays): €1.80 per km €0.64 per minute
