It seems we can't go a day without hearing about the cost of living!

Rising fuel, rising energy costs, food, what's next?

If there's one thing 2022 has been so far, it's tough on our pockets!

Even with the €200 energy credit we're due to get, it feels like more will be needed for us to get through this year without burning a hole in our wallet.

And a new poll is suggesting that the cost of living is at the front of most people's minds.

65 percent of people say the cost of living is the most important issue for them right now.

The Ireland Thinks poll in the Sunday Independent shows the issue has jumped 11 points in importance in the past month.

In contrast, the war in Ukraine has dropped 20 points in importance to the public, to 20 percent.

56 percent also say the cost of living should be the government's top priority for public spending, followed by housing at 34 percent.
