A new survey has revealed that we're a nation of traditionalists when it comes to Christmas dinner.

The research carried out by Aldi found that 91 per cent of Irish people plan on serving turkey on Christmas Day.

83 per cent will also have ham.

The majority of us are early risers and will have the turkey in the oven by 8am.

Roast potatoes are the number one vegetable of choice, with 96 per cent of Irish people serving them with the bird.

Along with roasties, Irish families have carrots (89 per cent), parsnips (63 per cent) and red cabbage (27 per cent).

And although everyone claims to dislike them, 85 per cent of Irish Christmas dinners include Brussels sprouts.

The number one use for leftovers is a turkey sandwich, with 76 per cent of people saying this is how they enjoy theirs the next day.
